Hip Hop Popular Culture: Where’s the Beef? Kendrick Lamar and Drake
Wednesday, February 186:00—7:00 PMJohnson AuditoriumHaverhill Public Library 99 Main Street, Haverhill, MA, 01830

Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been involved in a public feud, with each artist making accusations against each other and releasing diss tracks. The feud escalated after Lamar's verse on the song entitled "Like That". Using research questions, this lecture will be educational, entertaining, and will ask students to critically examine youth popular culture.
What are the social and historical contexts that shaped the development of early hip hop? What specific events or issues typically trigger hip hop feuds, and are these disagreements related to personal conflicts or larger cultural issues? What societal factors and personal dynamics contribute to the escalation of conflict between hip hop artists?
