Magical Girls & Fighting Dreamers: An Exploration of Queer Representation in Anime (VIRTUAL)
Tuesday, June 187:00—8:00 PMZoom
The Morrill Memorial Library is thrilled to offer a virtual presentation by its own Youth Services Librarian, Dina Delic, called "Magical Girls and Fighting Dreamers: An Exploration of Queer Representation in Anime" on Tuesday, June 18 starting at 7:00pm on Zoom.
Join fellow anime-enthusiast and MML Youth Services Librarian Dina Delic to learn about the history of queer representation in manga and anime! This program will give an overview of queer representation throughout various series, from The Rose of Versailles to Yuri on Ice, and will answer your most pressing questions: What is shipping? What is the difference between yaoi and yuri? Why are the greatest love stories in anime always platonic?
Note: This program may contain spoilers for some series.
About the presenter: Dina Delic is a Youth Services Librarian at the Morrill Memorial Library. When she is not covering the Children's Desk or ordering young adult books, Dina can be found attending conventions, running around Jo-Ann Fabrics getting materials for her next cosplay, and reading manga. Some of her favorite series include D.Gray-man, Fruits Basket, HunterxHunter, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventures.
