Dale Rogers: Exit 48

Thursday, November 26:30—7:30 PMJohnson AuditoriumHaverhill Public Library 99 Main Street, Haverhill, MA, 01830

Travelers on Route 495 South are no strangers to the Big Dog, the iconic sculpture that has captured the hearts and imaginations of those who pass by on the Exit 48 ramp. But what is the story behind this beloved piece of art?

Dale Rogers, the metal sculptor responsible for the Big Dog, has released a book, "Exit 48", that tells the tale of his journey from a young farm boy with a learning disability to one of New England's most successful metal artists. The book details the challenges he faced growing up and his travels around the world before ultimately dedicating himself to his passion for artistic expression.

Starting with his experiences riding the "short bus" to school, the book takes readers on a journey filled with emotion, whimsy, and persistence – all traits that the Big Dog embodies. "Exit 48" is a testament to Dale's unwavering determination and the power of art to bring joy to people's lives.

Join Dale Rogers for a talk based on his life and book, Exit 48, on November 2nd at the library.
